England vs Australia in 1888
It was the first Test of Australia’s 1888 tour of England and the venue was the iconic Lord’s Cricket Stadium. The track had a lot of assistance for the fast bowlers as the Aussies were skittled out for 116 while batting first. However, the home team’s reply was even worse. At stumps on Day 1, England were three down with just 18 runs on the board.
On Day 2, the hosts were folded for 53 runs. The bowlers continued to shine as Aussies’ second innings ended at mere 60 runs. Chasing 124 for victory, England couldn’t do much and got bundled out for 62 runs. This way the Three Lions got all out twice on Day 2. Australia eventually registered a 61-run win.
England vs India in 1952
Team India were outplayed by England during the 1952 Test match in Manchester. The track seemed ideal for batting as the hosts declared at 349/9 while batting first. However, India couldn’t do much and got bundled out twice on the third day. They scored 58 in their first innings before managing 82 runs while following on. Hence, England won the game by an innings and 207 runs.
South Africa vs Australia in 2011
Momentum rode on a rollercoaster during this clash in Cape Town. Australia put up a decent batting show on Day 1 with the scoreline reading 214/8 at stumps. However, things drastically changed on Day 2. Australia got all-out for 284 before dismissing the home team for 96. Having a hefty first-innings lead of 188 runs, the Aussies looked in command. However, they got out for 47 on the second day itself. South Africa eventually won the game by eight wickets.
India vs Afghanistan in 2018
It was truly a one-sided game. The Bengaluru track seemed a paradise for batting with India posting 474 in the first innings. However, Afghanistan couldn’t put up any sort of fight on the second day. The visitors were skittled out for 109 runs in their first innings. Following on, they managed mere 103. Hence, Afghanistan lost 20 wickets on Day 2. India subsequently won the contest by an innings and 262 runs.
