Do you know? The team to score lowest T20I total amongst Full Members
West Indies have had an illustrious chapter in their history as they were the most feared side in the world 70s -90s. They won the first two editions of the ODI World Cup in 1975 and 1979 and had an unbeaten 15-year long unbeaten run in Test cricket from 1980 to 1995. However, their golden period ended In the first decade of the 2000s as the youngsters could not keep up with the legacy of their side.
West Indies had one of the darkest days in their cricket history in 2019 as they registered the lowest score in T20Is by a Full Member team. Led by Jason Holder, West Indies won the toss and invited the famed batting line up of England to bat first.
The decision proved to be right as England lost four wickets inside the powerplay and were 32/4 in 5.2 overs. Joe Root and Sam Billings took their team out of misery with an 82-run stand off 63 balls. After Root got out after scoring 55 off 40 balls, Sam Billings continued his innings and ended up scoring 87 off 47 balls as England finished their innings on 182/6 at the end of their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, the West Indies were blown away by the England bowlers as likes of Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran and Carlos Brathwaite all returned to the pavilion cheaply. Only two batters could score in double digits as West Indies were all out 45. Chris Jordan wreaked havoc with the ball as he picked up 4/6 in two overs while David Willey, Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett all picked up two wickets each.
As a result, the West Indies had the ignominy of registering the lowest score by a Full Member nation in T20Is. Notably, the lowest-ever T20I team total is 10 registered by Isle of Man against Spain last month.
