Dinesh Karthik named Tamil Nadu captain in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
Dinesh Karthik shall lead the Tamil Nadu troops in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. All-rounder Vijay Shankar has been named as Karthik’s deputy. The 20-over tournament begins from 10th January across the nation.
The Tamil Nadu team will be missing the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Washington Sundar, T Natarajan since they are away in Australia on national duty.
The 20-man squad is a balanced one, according to the state senior selection committee head S Vasudevan. Medium-pacer Aswin Crist returns to the side after a three-year gap while KB Arun Karthik and Sandeep Warrier have also decided to play for Tamil Nadu this season.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has featured in more than 300 T20 matches. He maintains an average of 26.95 with a strike rate around 133. The veteran cricketer will be eyeing an opportunity to get back in the Indian T20 team with this stint.
