Dinesh Karthik comes out in Virat Kohli’s support

Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik believes that Virat Kohli will regain his form and asserted that a player of his calibre should never be written off. Kohli has been going through a rough patch and has been unable to score a century since November 2019.

The 33-year-old struggled on the most recent tour of England, which fueled the talk of him being dropped from the side. Kohli has gone without an international century for 79 innings now, but he has received support from many former and current players from across the world. Recently, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma backed Kohli, and now Karthik is the newest to do so.

Karthik anticipates that because Kohli has been rested for the West Indies tour, the 33-year-old will have a decent rest and return to the team fully refreshed. “Virat has experienced insane success over the period of time. Now he will get a good break and will come back all recharged and, hopefully, will do phenomenally well. You can never rule out a player of his calibre,” Karthik told The Times of India.

Preparing for the challenges we’ll have to face in World Cup: Dinesh Karthik

Karthik amazingly found his way back to the Indian side, but that was no miracle as he proved his worth with the bat and earned his way back into the team. The 37-year-old played some brilliant knocks in the IPL this year while representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore and became the key component of the lineup for every match.

Karthik also praised the Indian squad’s depth and made a comment on his own comeback, and acknowledged that, despite it being a difficult challenge, he fought hard for it.

“It is never easy, but I have worked hard for it. Also, given the bench strength that we have today, the competition is always going to be a part of it. This is the beauty of Indian cricket,” said Karthik.

The wicketkeeper-batter has a high chance of finding himself in the middle of things for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. Karthik claimed that the group is getting ready for the event’s hurdles and stated that everyone around it has been quite supportive.

“As a team, we are preparing for the challenges we will have to face during the upcoming World Cup. Coach Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma have taken everyone along as we prepare for the big event. It is a very positive environment,” he concluded.
