Dinesh Karthik – All set to make a comeback to the Indian team
Dinesh Karthik, the new entrant to the Royal Challengers camp, has said that he looks forward to returning to the Indian side for the T20I World Cup and winning the upcoming edition of the event wearing the Indian blues. Looking at him playing at the Indian Premier League this year, it seems the wicketkeeper-batter has still got all the strengths and ability to play for the national side.
Karthik has not got many opportunities to represent the Indian side lately and has not been seen in the blue jersey. One of his finest performances came against Bangladesh at the Nidahas Trophy, when he helped the team finish the game by smacking an unbeaten eight-ball 29* to win the game and was declared the Player of the Match.
He has showcased similar heroics in the IPL this year and has led to team to some big finishes and some epic chases. After RCB’s win against the Delhi Capitals, where he punched a 66*(33) batting first, he expressed his desire of playing for the Indian team and said that he will improve his game and will make all the efforts to make it back to the team.
Karthik has 197 runs in the six games this season and has them at a staggering strike rate of 209.57. Of the six games, he has remained unbeaten in five matches. With his new role as the ‘finisher’ in the team, he also wishes to take RCB to their first-ever IPL victory. Karthik wishes to be the player who can lead the Indian team towards a victory at a multi-nation tournament.
Before the IPL 2022, Karthik was roped in for INR 5.50 crore by the RCB after a tough competition with the Chennai Super Kings at the mega auction. The 36-year-old has been at his best for his team since the very first game of the tournament. He has proved to be one of the players upon whom the team can blindly depend.
