Dinesh Karthik aims to do his best in the upcoming IPL
With the IPL 2022 mega auction just around the corner, many of the released players from their respective franchises would be going under the hammer and it remains to be seen whether they would be brought back by the same team or making an impact elsewhere. Veteran wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik is one of those players. He was released by the two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders and would now be hoping to start afresh this season.
Just days before the two-day event in Bengaluru, Karthik has said it is tough for him to pick a choice at the moment. The Tamil Nadu cricketer has represented six teams in the IPL including Delhi, Punjab, the now-defunct Gujarat Lions, Royal Challengers Bangalore, five-time champions Mumbai Indians, and KKR respectively.
I’m from Chennai and playing for CSK would be great: Dinesh Karthik
“It’s very hard for me to answer this question because it will be a very cliched answer. I’ll try and do everything that I can, not only to do well for the franchisee I play for but for myself also,” said Dinesh Karthik as quoted as saying by India Today.
“Look, it’s great if I can play for CSK. I’m from Chennai. But at the end of the day, what’s important for me is whichever team that I get to play in, it will be an absolute honor because as I said, all this practice that I’ve been doing these days is to try and do well in a tournament like the IPL”, he said.
It would be interesting to see if the four-time winners rope in the local boy at the IPL 2022 mega auction as they look to rebuild their team in order to take the legacy forward. CSK would once again be led by the charismatic MS Dhoni in the 15th edition of the marquee tournament which is reportedly scheduled to get underway on March 27.
Just months before the mega auction, Chennai had retained the last edition’s Orange Cap winner Ruturaj Gaikwad, star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and his English counterpart Moeen Ali.
