Dewald Brevis reminds me of Kevin Pietersen: Graeme Swann
Former England spinner Graeme Swann felt that Mumbai Indians’ young sensation Dewald Brevis reminds him of Kevin Pietersen in the way he dominates the bowlers. Brevis has lit up the IPL on fire with two excellent innings for Mumbai Indians in the last two games, despite his franchise ending up on the losing side. The youngster was picked up for INR three Crores in the mega auction after his brilliant display in the U19 World Cup this year and was popularly known as ‘Baby AB’ as well.
Brevis started his assault by taking on Rahul Chahar in the game against Punjab Kings where he hit four consecutive sixes in a single over and was unfortunate to be dismissed on 49 off just 25 balls. In the process, Brevis hit a 112 metre six which left the fans and commentators in awe of the 18-year-old. The youngster continued his impressive knock with a 13 ball 31 against the Lucknow Super Giants and hit six fours and a six in his superlative knock.
Dewald Brevis dominates with his presence at the crease: Graeme Swann
Swann noted that Brewis despite being called the ‘Baby Ab’ reminds him of Pietersen with his tall stature and the ability to dominate the bowlers. Swann’s comment had a positive response from Danny Morrison in air as the latter noted the wide stance and how his hitting through the line reminds certainly of Pietersen.
“Nevermind AB, he reminds me of another South African with initials ‘KP’ (Kevin Pietersen). (He is) Tall, looks to dominate the bowlers, dominate with his presence at the crease, a horror to bowlers,” Swann said in the commentary box panel during the game between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.
“Yeah, I concur. He really does remind me of Kevin Pietersen. His presence at the crease, wide stance, looks through the bowlers, hits through the line, keeps the head down right through the stroke, and presence for sure.” Morrison replied to Swann’s statement on air.
