Deepti Sharma attains career-best position in latest ICC rankings

India’s Deepti Sharma has reached career-best positions among bowlers and all-rounders in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings after some fine performances over the past week in the Asia Cup being played in Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Sharma grabbed three wickets against Pakistan and two each against Bangladesh and Thailand to move up three slots and reach a career-best-equaling third position, which she had first attained in November 2019. She has overtaken South Africa fast bowler Shabnim Ismail and now only trails England spinners Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn.

Sharma has also moved up one slot to 35^th among batters and is ranked third among all-rounders after overtaking Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner. Sharma’s number three position among all-rounders is also career-best-equaling attainment.

India’s Renuka Singh (up three slots to eighth), Sneh Rana (up 30 places to 15^th) and Pooja Vastrakar (up seven places to 28^th) have progressed in the rankings for bowlers along with Bangladesh’s Sanjida Akter (up 25 places to 24^th), Sri Lanka’s Inoka Ranaweera (up eight places to 32^nd), Pakistan’s Tuba Hassan (up 30 places to 37^th) and Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong (up 44 places to 37^th).

Jemimah Rodrigues continues to rise in batters’ rankings

In the rankings for batters, India’s Jemimah Rodrigues has moved from eighth to sixth position while Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana (up three places to 22^nd) and her team-mate Murshida Khatun (up 10 places to 27^th) have also gained.
