Deepak Chahar pens heartfelt note for fans after getting ruled out of IPL 2022
Chennai Super Kings’ premier swing bowler Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of IPL 2022 without playing a single game owing to the back injury he picked up at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) during his rehabilitation. Chahar was bought for INR 14 crore by his former franchise in the mega auction after an immense bidding war and he was expected to lead the bowling attack. However, the second-most expensive player in the auction this year will not be taking the ground in this IPL and it is a huge blow to the whole franchise.
Chennai have struggled to find a replacement for Chahar this season with Adam Milne, Tushar Deshpande, Mukesh Choudhary, and Chris Jordan being ineffective and they lost the first four games as a result of it as well. Chahar has, over the years, provided a lot of breakthroughs with the new ball and he has been groomed into the death overs responsibilities in recent times. He is quite handy with the bat down the order and is a genuine bowling all-rounder at the moment.
The 29-year-old has taken 59 wickets in 61 games so far in his IPL career since making his debut in 2016 and he has an impressive economy rate of 7.80. His ability to swing the ball both ways has had a major impact on CSK’s title-winning campaign last year. Chahar expressed his disappointment over missing out on the IPL season this year and penned a heartfelt message for the fans.
Will come back better and stronger as I have always done: Deepak Chahar
After losing four games on the trot, CSK finally managed to put on a good performance against RCB in their previous encounter and got two points on the board. The Ravindra Jadeja-led side posted a big total on the back of impressive performances from Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube, and defended the score despite a scare from Dinesh Karthik.
