David Warner’s hilarious take after Stuart Broad dismisses Devon Conway
Australian opener David Warner on June 2 (Thursday) posted a story on his official Instagram account for the New Zealand batter Devon Conway. To note, the left-handed batter was scalped by England senior pacer Stuart Broad on Day 1 of the first Test match between England and New Zealand.
The left-hander Warner, who has been scalped by the England pacer 14 times in Test cricket, related himself with Conway, who was caught at the third slip after chasing a wide delivery from Broad. It may be noted that Warner was scalped by Broad seven times during the 2019 Ashes. Before the 2019 Ashes series, the right-arm pacer from England had taken Warner’s wicket only five times. However, that stat changed drastically after the 2019 series.
Devon Conway, I feel your pain, wrote Warner on Instagram
Talking about Conway’s dismissal, the left-handed batter came to the crease with visitors scoring just two runs and losing both the openers. The left-handed batter opened his account on his fourth ball as an outside edge flew between the gap of the gully and backward point. The left-handed batter collected three runs off that delivery from Broad. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson immediately rotated the strike, with Conway playing the remaining two balls comfortably.
The next over was carefully played by the Kiwi skipper. However, Broad got the wicket of Conway as soon as he came for his next over. The left-handed batter, for some reason, decided to poke a wide delivery as he edged the ball and the catch was easily completed by Bairstow stationed at the third slip. Meanwhile, NZ after winning the toss and deciding to bat first were tumbled out for 132 as James Anderson and debutants Matty Potts scalped four wickets each, while Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes took one each.
