David Warner quashes rumours of his exclusion from 2nd ODI due to injury
After losing the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia looked to establish their authority in the three match ODI series. However, their plans were hindered after India made a resilient comeback in the first match of the series. As the hosts took the lead, the Men in Yellow came back with a mission. They dominated India and won the second ODI by 10 wickets.
However, one significant omission from the Australian squad has been ace opener David Warner. After being unable to perform in first two Tests, Warner missed the last two matches due to a fractured elbow. The 36-year-old also missed the first ODI as he was unable to recover in time.
Warner was left out of the second ODI as well after there were reports that the 36-year-old suffered a corked quad, which saw him miss the second clash between India and Australia. However, in a recent development, Warner took to Instagram and posted a story. He highlighted the fact that his injury concerns were fake news.
After he claimed that his injury news was fake, the actual reason for Warner’s absence in second ODI is unknown. It is also unclear whether he will feature in the series decider on Wednesday, March 22.
Australia make resilient comeback in second ODI
After India won the first ODI in a fabulous fashion, and they looked to clinch the series as they took Australia on in the second game. However, Steve Smith’s Australia had different plans in mind. India were bundled out for just 117 runs after a magnificent bowling display by the visitors.
Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh left no room for error, as Australia did not lose a single wicket during the run chase. Following the second game, both teams are tied at 1-1 and will look to go all out in the third match of the series, which is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, March 22.
