David Warner pulls Afghanistan spinner’s leg on his birthday
Arguably the finest leg-spinner going around, Rashid Khan turns 23 on Monday (September 20) and wishes are pouring in from different parts. After all, the Afghanistan cricketer has become a global star over the years. Be it restricting the scoring rate or taking wickets regularly, there’s hardly anything that Rashid can’t do with the ball in hand. As the talismanic cricketer turned a year older, David Warner also wished his Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) teammate but in a cheeky manner.
While extending greetings, Warner cheekily pulled Rashid over his age. For the unversed, there have been a lot of jokes over the leg-spinner’s age on social media. Several reports even suggested the leg-spinner is older than his age in the records. David Warner also took a hilarious dig over the young cricketer’s age and fans were left in splits.
It all started with SRH’s official Instagram account wishing Rashid. “Our magician celebrates his special day today! Happy Birthday, @rashid.khan19! #OrangeArmy #OrangeOrNothing #IPL2021,” read the post. The comment section got flooded in no time as several netizens also wished the 23-year-old. Warner also commented in the post using his sense of humour. “Happppy birthday @rashid.khan19 19,” he wrote alongside a couple of laughing emojis.

David Warner, Rashid Khan need to shine for SRH
Meanwhile, Warner and Rashid will join forces for SRH in the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The gala tournament got underway on Sunday (September 19) and all the matches are slated to take place in the United Arab Emirates. SRH will resume their campaign against Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 22.
The Men in Orange certainly have a point to prove as they suffered a horrendous campaign in the first leg. Hardly anything went in their favour as they lost six of their first seven games. As a result, they were reeling at the rock bottom of the team standings at the time of season suspension. This means a couple of more defeats might be enough to knock SRH out of the playoff race.
While Rashid was impressive as ever in the first leg, Warner was far away from his prime. With SRH suffering regular failures, Warner was even stripped off from captaincy midway in the season. Hence, it would be interesting to see whether the southpaw can redeem himself or not.
