David Warner posts a heartfelt message in Telugu

David Warner

Australia’s aggressive opening batsman David Warner can be considered as one of the most loved overseas cricketers in India. Warner has churned out performances after performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while representing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Since the veteran is a popular face in the Indian league, he has been subjected to a lot of love and admiration from Indian cricket fans.

Warner has often acknowledged the love and support he has received from his Indian fans. On June 16, Wednesday, the 34-year-old made a special post on his official Instagram handle to express his love for Hyderabad. The left-hander shared a collage that included his pictures while playing for SRH and just chilling in the city with his family.

What made the post more special was the fact that Warner wrote a special caption in the Telugu language. Warner’s caption roughly translates to, “My second home and the place I love the most in India is Hyderabad.”

David Warner doubtful for the remainder of IPL 2021

David Warner has phenomenal records while leading the franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. He took the team to their maiden title in 2016. Though after 2016, SRH are yet to win the title once again, they reached the playoffs in all the seasons be it 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.

However, the franchise succumbed to a torrid outing in the 20201 edition of the T20 Championship. They could win just one out of their seven league matches and are languishing at the last position on the points table. Due to the team’s poor performance, SRH’s team management took the harsh call of sacking Warner as the captain and replacing him with Kane Williamson.

In a shocking turn of events, the Orange Army also dropped Warner from their Playing XI in the last match that they played in IPL 2021. In six games in IPL 2021, Warner could score only 193 runs at a strike rate of 110. As IPL 2021 has now been shifted to the United Arab Emirates, Hyderabad will be hoping for a fresh start. However, there is an uncertainly looming over the availability of Warner for the UAE leg as Australia has international cricket scheduled during the same time.
