CSK opener Devon Conway ties the knot with long-time girlfriend Kim
New Zealand and Chennai Super Kings batter Devon Conway has left the IPL bubble temporarily for his wedding. The southpaw flew to his home country South Africa for the special occasion and now, the photograph of the marriage ceremony has now been posted on social media after tying the knot with Kim Watson.
While Devon Conway was formally dressed up for the occasion wearing a suit and tie, his better half Kim Watson had worn the traditional wedding gown for the ceremony. According to reports, the duo was dating for three years before finally deciding to settle down. Interestingly, CSK franchise had arranged a proper traditional pre-wedding bash for Conway before he left the bubble.
Conway was expected to rejoin the squad by April 24
Coming back to IPL 2022, the South African-born cricketer is playing for the very first time in the cash-rich league. He was roped in by the defending champions at his original base price of INR 1 crore at the two-day mega auction in February this year. The New Zealand player has so far been able to make just a solitary appearance for the four-time champions with only managing to score three runs. Apart from that, he has been benched on most occasions.
Conway would now be hoping to showcase his best performance on the field if he gets to feature in the Playing XI in the future. CSK got the better of arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in the last match by three wickets in a last-ball thriller courtesy of MS Dhoni’s final over heroics. That was Chennai’s second win of this season and they would now be hoping for a third one when they face a demoralized Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 25.
However, Devon Conway will not be available for selection against PBKS. According to reports, he was scheduled to rejoin the squad on April 24 which means that the opener will have to stay in isolation for the next three days and complete all the necessary protocols before joining the CSK camp as per the COVID-19 protocols.
