CSK CEO confirms MS Dhoni will be taking medical advice
Chennai Super Kings’ CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that MS Dhoni will take medical advice on his knee injury, adding that undergoing surgery would be completely Dhoni’s call. Notably, Dhoni said that he would be coming back for another season of the IPL in 2024 as a gift to the fans, if his body allows.
The legendary skipper played IPL 2023 while nursing an injury to his left knee. While he looked flawless behind the stumps, his knee issues came to the front while running between the wickets, which also forced him to bat lower down.
The skipper keeps everything uncomplicated in our franchise: Kasi Viswanathan
Chennai Super Kings rewrote history as they defeated the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Defeating Gujarat by five wickets, Chennai became the five-time champions of the IPL. Leading from the front, 41-year-old MS Dhoni was influential for Chennai in their title win.
Viswanathan reflected on how the franchise celebrated winning their fifth IPL title. He revealed that there were no major celebrations as the side has never been too big on celebrating. “He is very happy but there were no celebrations. The players dispersed for their respective destinations from Ahmedabad only. Also if you have seen CSK, we are never big on celebrations,” Viswanathan said.
“I have been associated with CSK since season one and we have never deviated from our process. The key has been to keep things simple and explain to every player what is expected of them. In our franchise, the skipper keeps everything uncomplicated,” he concluded.
