Cricketing world pays tribute to basketball legend Kobe Bryant after his tragic death
The sporting world was rocked by the tragic news of basketball legend Kobe Bryant’s tragic death in the early hours of Monday morning. Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash outside Los Angeles. A total of 9 people passed away, including Bryant’s teenage 13-year old daughter Gianna.
‘Mamba’ as he was fondly called was regarded as one of the greatest icons in the history of the sport. He spent his entire 20-year career playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, operating as a shooting guard. He won 5 NBA titles with the franchise, was an 18-time All-Star and was named NBA’s MVP in 2008. He accumulated 33,643 points in his career, featuring on 4th position in the all-time list. He retired from the game in 2016, with his final match against the Utah Jazz forever etched in history. He scored a season-high 60 points in the contest, with the world again left in awe of his genius.
After the news of his demise broke out, sporting superstars from across the globe started to pay him tribute on their social media accounts. Cricketers too paid their heartfelt tributes to an icon, who was taken away from this world too soon.
