Cricket South Africa partners with Amul for T20I series against India
Cricket South Africa on Monday roped in Indian dairy brand Amul as their new partner for the T20I series against India. With a global ranking of 73, Amul will now feature on the back of South Africa’s T20I jerseys for the remaining two games.
“Amul is very proud to be associated as the Asian partner to the Standard Bank Proteas for the forthcoming T20 matches,” said Dr. RS Sodhi, Managing Director of Amul.
This isn’t the first time the dairy brand has sponsored a cricket team, having signed up with New Zealand once and Afghanistan in the 2019 World Cup. The Proteas had earlier partnered with New Balance, a footwear and apparel brand whose contract ended after the World Cup.
“CSA is excited about our new partnership,” said CSA Chief Executive Thabang Moroe.”
“The CSA-Amul partnership, which is facilitated by our international marketing partner, ITW, is going to be a powerful one.”
Kugandrie Govender, CSA Chief Commercial Officer said: “Amul shares our values and we’re grateful for this opportunity of a unique partnership. It will not only offer Amul a new and exciting platform but also strengthen the relationship between the Proteas and our fans in the sub-continent.”
On Sunday, the first T20I between South Africa and India was abandoned due to torrential rains in Dharamsala. The second game will be played at Mohali on Wednesday. The T20I series will conclude in Bengaluru, where the final match will be played on September 22.
