Cricket Scotland thank 12-year-old schoolgirl, their T20 World Cup kit designer
Scotland Cricket, on Monday (October 19), took to its official Twitter account to thank Rebecca Downie, a teenaged girl, who happens to be the designer of the jersey Scotland is donning in the ongoing T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
The Scottish jersey has shades of purple and black with an abstract design and the nation’s name printed across the front. Meanwhile, the Kyle Coetzer-led unit started their campaign on a winning note, defeating the favourites of their group – Bangladesh – by six runs to script an upset on the opening day of the multi-team event.

The associate nation showed commendable spirit to roar back in the game after being reduced 53/6 at one stage before Chris Greaves bailed them out of trouble with his 28-ball 45 laced with four boundaries and a couple of sixes. Greaves did not stop there and went on to scalp the crucial wickets of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim to derail Bangladesh’s attempt to chase 141.
Deservedly, Greaves, who his skipper revealed was delivering Amazon delivery parcels not too long ago, was adjudged the Player of the Match.
“We were in a tough situation obviously and it doesn’t always go that way. It was just to rebuild the innings at that stage and see where we could go from there. I was happy to be that person. With the score on the board, you’ve got something to bowl at. I think once we got that total on the board with our bowling lineup, we’ll back it. It was a great great game,” Greaves said after his team’s victory.
“It was my day I think today. It will be many other days that any one of us in that squad will be a part of. I’m just glad I could contribute in the way I did. Incredible. There are so many words. Just really enjoying it and taking one day at a time. Hopefully, many more days like this to come.”
