Credit for my success in T20 World Cup goes to Bhuvneshwar Kumar: Arshdeep Singh
Team India are close to cementing their spot in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 with two matches to go in the Super 12 stage despite the loss to South Africa on Sunday, October 30. Both the batting and the bowling departments have relished some terrific outings thus far in the competition.
However, it is Arshdeep Singh who has been a revelation for the side in the showpiece event and has fired all cylinders with his aggressive pace. The pace spearhead has scalped seven wickets in three games at an economy rate of 7.83.
I’m able to attack the batter because Bhuvi bhai is bowling economically: Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh spoke with reporters on Sunday after the match against South Africa and lauded teammate Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s economical figures helping his aggressive bowling.
“We study the batters’ weaknesses and myself and Bhuvi bhai try to get some swing first up and beat the batter at start. I’m able to attack the batter because Bhuvi bhai is bowling so economically that the batter is already under pressure,” said Arshdeep to the reporters as quoted by NDTV.
“Credit for my success goes to him. The batters aren’t taking chances against him (Bhuvneshwar) and are doing that with me. So, we have forged a good partnership. A bowling partnership is as important as batting partnership. You feel confident when you get wickets first up and team also feels confident of your abilities,” added Arshdeep Singh.
While Bhuvneshwar Kumar has not picked up too many wickets, his economical figures have helped the side put pressure on rival batters. Moreover, the Australian tracks provide extra bounce and pace that assist the bowlers and the Indian pace line-up have taken this to their advantage.
India play Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in their forthcoming matches and will look to cement their spot in the semi-finals of the event. The Indian pacers will be hungry to restrict the rival side and scalp wickets in the crucial moments of the upcoming fixtures.
