Rohit had missed a few matches in IPL 2020 in the UAE due to his hamstring injury. Although he was back to play the final, he wasn’t included in India’s limited-overs series against Australia. There had been plenty of confusion about his availability for the Test series as well. India captain Virat Kohli also said that there wasn’t any clarity on the subject. However, the BCCI insisted that Rohit was being monitored and a final decision will be taken post his NCA assessment.
Both the NCA and the BCCI have given the green signal to Rohit, who is expected to fly out to Australia in a day or two. The batsman has been handed a detailed programme to be followed for the two-week quarantine period. Team India’s medical team will once again assess his fitness status post the quarantine period. Rohit’s participation in the final two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be taken accordingly.
