The cricket being played in the last two years has drastically changed. Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the world, the bio-bubble in sports has become the new normal. The ICC T20 World Cup was also postponed due to the pandemic. But after a gap of five years, the showpiece event is back. Indian team, who have been on the road for the past four months are slowly feeling a bit tired. India batter KL Rahul was asked about the bio-bubble and he stated, ‘Don’t even ask me about the bubble! It is really hard.’

Rahul has been with the team since the England tour and it is his seventh such instance being in a stringent environment in the past 13 months. The bio-bubble atmosphere for the batter started during the Australia series Down Under in later December last year. Considering Rahul plays all the formats, he says it is hard but playing cricket is what keeps him going.

It was quite okay when we started in 2020. I think the first bubble was IPL 2020. It was pretty okay because we were coming out of five months of no cricket so we were excited to just play cricket and din’t mind being in a bubble. But the bio bubbles have been going on for so long that it is really hard,” Rahul said according to Cricket Next.

The India batter further opined that it is quite a challenge being in the bio-bubble continuously, and even the family members have to undergo quarantine. But Rahul said at the end of the day we have to adapt.

Even for your families to come in, to quarantine alone for them is obliviously it is quite a challenge and it is not fun. It is getting tougher but that’s the sport, you have to again adapt.

We get to know teammates a lot better: KL Rahul

The 29-year-old stated that the only positive of the bio-bubble is it has brought the team together. He also said the players are spending a lot of time together and are getting to know each other more.

I think the bubbles have brought the team together, we have gotten to know each other a lot because we end up spending time with each other a lot.
