BPL 2022: Andre Fletcher taken to hospital after being hit on neck
West Indies batter Andre Fletcher has been taken to the hospital after being hit on the neck by a short delivery during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League. Fletcher, who plays for the Khulna Tigers was batting on 16 runs when he received a bouncer from Rejaur Rahman Raja and the former missed the delivery which struck him in the neck instead of the lower part of the grill. Sikandar Raza had to come in as a concussion substitute for the injured Fletcher.
Fletcher was immediately down in pain and he was under observation for a while on the ground. The 34-year-old is a hard-hitting top-order batter and he was part of the West Indies squad for the T20 World Cup 2021 as well. He has been playing franchise cricket regularly around the world and can hit some lusty blows as well. Fletcher has represented the West Indies side in 25 ODIs and 54 T20Is so far.

From the observation on the ground, a physician had confirmed that Fletcher is okay while the franchise manager Nafees Iqbal mentioned that the prolific six-hitter is taken to the hospital as precautionary measures. The concussion rules have been followed strictly around the world as the risk factor involved is immense for any injury near the head.
“he appeared to be okay” according to a BCB physician.
“He is out of danger but we are taking him to hospital as part of precaution,” Khulna Tigers manager Nafees Iqbal informed the media.
Meanwhile, the Khulna Tigers failed to chase down the score of 191 in their 20 overs and ended up losing the game by 25 runs in the end to the Chattogram Challengers. Rejaur Rahman turned out to be the pick of the bowlers from the winning side as he gave away just 20 runs and picked up two wickets as well. With the win, the Chattogram Challengers have moved to the top of the table with 4 points on board in 3 games and they have the best net run rate as well.
