Bowlers with the most powerplay wickets in the IPL
The first six overs in the T20 format are the overs where batters target the bowlers the most. They go after the bowling side right from ball one to make full use of the first six overs – the powerplay overs. Bowlers have to at their best to try and concede lesser runs. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), few pacers have delivered some great bowling upfront that has rewarded them with the most wickets.

5.R Ashwin and Deepak Chahar (43)
Spinner R Ashwin and pacer Deepak Chahar have both taken 43 wickets each in the powerplays in IPL history. In 102 innings, Ashwin has accounted for 43 wickets at an average of 24.67 and an economy rate of 6.52. On the other hand, Chahar averages 30.69 and has an economy rate of 7.75. He has been one of the most consistent pacers in the powerplay in the past seasons.
4.Ishant Sharma and Dhawal Kulkarni (44)
Ishant Sharma and Dhawal Kulkarni have taken 44 scalps in the powerplay. In 91 innings, Ishant had an average of 33.90 and an economy of 7.08. In 86 innings, Kulkarni bowled with an economy rate of 7.49 and an average of 28.88. He has played for Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Gujarat Lions.
3.Umesh Yadav (47)
Umesh Yadav has taken the third-most wickets (47). The pacer with a 29.68 average and 7.66 economy rate. Yadav, who has represented three franchises so far, is known for bowling with solid pace. He has won most Player of the Match awards (9) amongst the pacers in the IPL.
2.Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Zaheer Khan (52)
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Zaheer Khan have both taken 52 wickets. Bhuvneshwar, who won the purple cap in consecutive seasons in 2016 and 2017, boasts an average of 30.50 and an impressive economy rate of 5.98 in 132 innings. Left-arm bowler Zaheer had an average of 27.92 and a 6.74 economy rate in 99 IPL innings in the first six overs.

The most wickets in the powerplay have been taken by Sandeep Sharma. He has snared 53 scalps. He has a good economy rate of 6.94 and an average of 28.71. The fast bowler has bowled in 98 innings and has taken one of the best batters Virat Kohli out seven times in the league.
