Ben Stokes takes an indefinite break from all cricket

England all-rounder Ben Stokes has taken an indefinite break from all cricket owing to mental health issues. The cricketer also had a finger injury which is yet to heal fully. Stokes has withdrawn from the England Test squad which is set to face India. The English Cricket Board has confirmed the development.

“Stokes has withdrawn from England’s Test squad ahead of the LV= Insurance Test series against India starting next week to prioritise his mental wellbeing and to rest his left index finger, which has not fully healed since his return to competitive cricket earlier this month,” reads the statement released by English Cricket Baord.

Somerset cricketer Craig Overton has been named as Ben Stokes’ replacement.
