Ben Stokes, the England all-rounder, stated that the Brits’ players prefer using feminine deodorants before stepping on the field for matches. The all-rounder is currently in India, playing the three-match ODI series that the hosts are trailing 1-0 after their 66-run loss at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Stokes had a decent time with the ball in the first game as he picked up three wickets, but he could only manage one run with the bat in hand. About using women’s deodorants, Stokes mentioned that it “smells better” than the men’s deodorants. He also mentioned the pomegranate scent as his favourite.

It smells better. The pomegranate one — it’s top drawer,” Stokes was quoted as saying to talkSPORT from India. “I’m not the only one,” he said.

When Laura Woods, Ally McCoist, and Jamie O’Hara, the show’s hosts, laughed and asked about names, Stokes said, “The whole squad.

Ben Stokes plays his first ODI after the 2019 World Cup final

In the ODI on Tuesday, March 23, Stokes made his comeback to ODI cricket after a gap of more than one and half years. He batted at number three, a position where Joe Root bats for the national team. Prior to the game, Stokes also got in touch with Root asking for some tips to bat at three.

“It’s crazy to think that it was my first game (ODI) since that World Cup Final (July 2019). Great to be back out there and play some One-Day cricket. Look, there was always going to talk irrespective of whoever filled the No.3 spot with Joe Root not being there. People keep talking, and I will just go out and do what I am asked to do,” Stokes stated.

“I messaged Root to understand the mindset for No.3. He was pretty clear to me and told me – ‘just play the way you play’. Just because he plays in a particular way, it doesn’t mean I will bat the same way. It’s slightly different at No.3 when you compare to my regular spot at No.5 or 6,” he added.

The second ODI is set to take place on Friday, March 26 in Pune and England are in a must-win situation to stay alive in the three-match series.
