BCCI set to announce INR 30 crore to each state association
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in its Annual General Meeting (AGM) has come out with many plans in their agenda which also includes the budgeting plans of the state cricket associations. The much-awaited AGM will be held on Tuesday, October 18, at a five-star hotel in Mumbai.
The national cricket board’s AGM will also very likely see the legendary all-rounder and 1983 World Cup winner Roger Binny being named as its 36th president. Binny will be succeeding former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly. Apart from that, focus will also be on the BCCI’s newest project- The Women’s IPL which is set to take off from next year onwards. At the same time, it remains to be seen what key decisions will be taken by the BCCI as far as the ICC Chairmanship post is concerned.
What is BCCI’s plans for the state cricket units for the AGM?
An estimated sum of a phenomenal INR 30 crore is set to be announced for each of the state cricket association.
According to reports in Cricbuzz, “Although it is their entitlement, the state units have been told that INR 30 crore will be credited to their accounts as part of their share. The share of the North East and new states may vary a little but all the members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are in for a major windfall.”
Thus, there has been a significant rise in the hosting fees of some of the prestigious domestic tournaments like the Col CK Nayadu Trophy, Cooch Behar Trophy, and, the Vijay Merchant Trophy. The match day hosting fees of all the said tournaments have gone up from INR 1,00,000 all the way to 1,75,000.
Apart from this, the BCCI has also increased the hosting subsidy of day-night matches for these domestic tournaments by a whopping INR one lakh i.e. from 3,50,000 per match to 4,50,000. This has been implemented in order to meet the expenses for the increasing cost of floodlight operations.
