BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announces cash rewards for the India U19 side
The India Under 19 cricket team beat the England U19 side with 4 wickets to spare in the summit clash of the tournament to lift the coveted ICC Under 19 World Cup title.
And, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah has announced a reward for the players for their superb accomplishment. Shah tweeted that each player will be rewarded INR 40 Lakhs, and every member of the support staff will receive INR 25 Lakhs. Adding that the Indian side produced an exemplary performance in the final, Shah stated that the Under 19 boys have made the whole of India proud.
“I’m pleased to announce the reward of 40 lacs per player and 25 lacs per support staff for the U19 Team India contingent for their exemplary performance in Under 19 World Cup Final. You have made India proud,” read the tweet from Jay Shah.

India U19 lift their 5th title by defeating England U19 in the final
Talking about the encounter between the two sides, the England U19 side batted first and was bowled out for a total of 189. Only James Rew stepped up for his side with the willow and scored a valiant 95. James Sales also chipped in with a 65-ball 34* as well.
Raj Bawa scalped a five-wicket haul to put the brakes on the opposition. In reply, the India U19 side went past the target with 2.2 overs to spare. Shaik Rasheed and Nishant Sindhu scored crucial half-centuries for the Indian side to steer their team to victory.
Raj Bawa sizzled with the bat too, scored a handy 35 off 54 deliveries, and played a key role in helping India past the finish line in the final of the Under 19 World Cup. With this victory, India have lifted the title for the 5th time, more than any other side in history.
