BCCI President Sourav Ganguly hospitalised again after chest pain
Former India captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been taken to a private hospital after he complained of chest pain on Wednesday, January 27. The veteran didn’t make the greatest of starts to the year as on January 2, the legendary Indian skipper was admitted to the renowned Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata after he suffered from a mild heart attack.
He underwent a quick ‘primary angioplasty’ for clearing a blocked coronary artery. However, on January 7, Ganguly, also the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, was released. After being released from the hospital, he updated on his health, saying that he felt in good health and thanked the hospital staff for taking care of him in a critical situation.
“I am absolutely fine. Hopefully, I will be able to fly soon. We come to hospitals to get our life back,” Ganguly had said earlier to the reporters.
A statement from the Woodlands hospital had also stated that he had tested negative for COVID-19 after he gave his samples as a precautionary measure. From the hospital, the southpaw went to his home in Behala.
Tough times for Ganguly
It’s for the second time in one month that Ganguly had to be rushed to the hospital due to similar issues. More updates on his health remain to be seen for the time being. Last time around, it took him five days to recover and his fans and the cricketing fraternity would be wishing for his recovery.

Ganguly has had a challenging time with Indian cricket due to the coronavirus pandemic. India hasn’t hosted any form of international cricket for the last 12 months. England’s tour of India, starting February 5, is set to mark the return of international cricket in the country.
Moreover, he also managed to ensure that the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League didn’t get cancelled. Prior to the tournament, VIVO had backed out as the title sponsors after which Dream11 came to their rescue.
Ganguly also made sure that domestic cricket came back to India with the 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy that started a couple of weeks earlier. Further developments on his health are awaited as of now.
