BCCI announces venues for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy
The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India has announced the hosts for this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament and Vijay Hazare Trophy. Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, Punjab and Jaipur will be the venues for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy league stages while the knock out stages will be held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. The domestic 20-over tournament is set to be held between October 11 to November 5, with Tamil Nadu starting as the defending champions.
Coming to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Ranchi will be the venues for the league stages while Kolkata and Ahmedabad will yet again host the knockout stages of the one day-domestic-tournament. The white-ball tournament starts on November 12 and will go on until December 2, with Himachal Pradesh starting as the defending champions.
2022-23 domestic season to start with Duleep Trophy
The board has been quite keen to start the domestic tournaments that have been halted for a two-year phase due to Covid-19 and a complete season is set to be played this year. The season starts with Duleep Trophy taking place in Chennai and Coimbatore from September 8 to 25.
The Ranji Trophy season is scheduled to get underway in December and will go until next February. Meanwhile, Irani Cup, which took place previously in 2019, has returned. The 2020 Ranji Trophy champions Saurashtra will host Rest of India from October 1-5, while current champions Madhya Pradesh host Rest of India from March 1-5 next year.
