Batters with most sixes in men’s ODIs
Limited-overs cricket requires several boundaries for a team to post a competitive total. Hence batters after getting set, try to hit as many fours and sixes as they can. Some do it by just timing the ball or piercing the gaps, and some use their brute force to get the best results for their team. Let us go through the top three batters with the most maximums in ODI cricket.
3. Sanath Jayasuriya (270 sixes)
Sri Lanka veteran batter Sanath Jayasuriya comes third in the list after smashing a total of 270 maximums in 445 ODI matches. The left-handed batter amassed 13430 runs at an excellent strike rate of 91.22 with 189 being his highest. Jayasuriya has also stroked 68 fifties and 28 centuries for his country. He represented Sri Lanka in 110 Tests and 31 T20I matches as well.
2. Chris Gayle (331 sixes)
Universe Boss Chris Gayle comes second in this elite list after hitting a total of 331 maximums in his 50-over career. The left-handed batter has played 301 ODI matches and amassed 10480 runs at an average of 37.7. Apart from hitting 331 maximums, he has also smashed 1128 fours for his country in the 50-over format.
1. Shahid Afridi (351 sixes)
Pakistan veteran batter Shahid Afridi tops this list by some margin. Popularly known as ‘Boom Boom Afridi’, the right-handed batter smashed a total of 351 sixes in his 50-over career. Afridi has smashed several prominent bowling line-ups in his prime and no boundary was big enough for him when he looked to clear it. He played 398 ODI matches and scored 8064 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 117.01. He also stroked 39 fifties and six centuries in the 50-over format.
