Bangladesh humble visitors England in final ODI
With all eyes set on the third and final match of the ODI series against England and Bangladesh, many opined that it would be yet another comfortable victory for the visitors as they had already secured the series by winning the first two matches.
But it was not the case as Bangladesh played exceptionally well in the third ODI. Batting first, the hosts did not get off to a good start as both of their openers were dismissed early. But Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shakib Al Hasan came through for their side and played exceptional knocks.
Shakib scored 75 off 71 deliveries, Mushfiqur scored 70 as well, and Shanto completed his half-century before he was dismissed at 53. Bangladesh notched up 246 runs on the scoreboard for England to chase.
The English were nowhere near their usual selves with the bat as well. James Vince was the highest run-getter for the team with 38 runs to his name. Skipper Jos Buttler was unable to perform well, and he was dismissed on 26 by Taijul Islam. At the end, Bangladesh were able to win the game by 50 runs.
Despite the loss, England secured the series and will now be looking forward to the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh.
