Bangladesh Cricket Board to provide full-proof COVID arrangements for Australia squad

After finishing their limited-overs tour to West Indies, Australia are set to travel to Bangladesh to play a five-match T20I series in the month of August. Now the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have assured that it will provide top-notch facilities to the team with all the bio-bubble and COVID-19 protocols in place.

Interestingly, this will be the first bilateral series between both teams in the shortest format. With the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 scheduled to take place in October, both teams will look to make good use of this opportunity and try out a few combinations, before zeroing in on the squad.

The top seven players including the likes of David Warner, Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis might miss the tour. But the Men in Yellow do have a good back of players to win against Bangladesh in their own backyard.

BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus spoke about the arrangements in place for the T20I series. “Proper procedure of immigration and passport control will take place in the airport by following Covid-19 compliance measures.

“Maybe, this would include their passport being processed separately, but it is what is usually done. They (Cricket Australia) informed us that they (cricketers) don’t want to enter a hall room for the immigration. The passports will be returned to them following the immigration formalities,” Yunus was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

All the matches of the tour to be played in Mirpur

Earlier, the BCB officials agreed to Cricket Australia (CA) demands to host all the matches in Mirpur. The BCB was contemplating hosting a few games in Chattogram too, but it finally gave in to CA’s request. Yunus also confirmed that the Australian players will stay in the same hotel where both the Sri Lankan and West Indies players stayed when they toured Bangladesh earlier this year.

“It is the same bio-bubble that we had for West Indies and Sri Lanka. (CA) asked us to address certain pockets in the hotel where outsiders were allowed, like some of the restaurants. Those will be closed during the course of the Australia tour,” he added. Australia last toured Bangladesh in the year 2017 but that was only for a Test series.
