BAN vs IND: 3 players who deserved a chance in India’s Test squad
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on October 31 announced the India squads for T20I and ODI series against New Zealand and ODI and Test series in Bangladesh. While Shikhar Dhawan has been given the responsibility to lead the side in the ODIs, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be captaining the Men in Blue in the T20Is.
Some deserving players including Shubhman Gill, Sanju Samson, Rahul Tripathi, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Kuldeep Yadav were named to the Indian team but several talented players have been ignored by the selectors. In this article, we will talk about three such players who deserved a chance in India’s Bangladesh Test squad.
3. Ajinkya Rahane
India’s senior batter Ajinkya Rahane did not find his name in India’s Test squad going to take on Bangladesh. Once a valuable member of the side and the vice-captain of the team, Rahane was struggling with the bat in the international arena for a long time before he was dropped. However, the right-handed batter made a strong comeback in the domestic arena and scored some valuable runs for his side, but still, he could make a place for himself in India’s Test squad.
2. Sarfaraz Khan
Even after piling runs at the domestic level, batter Sarfaraz Khan was still ignored by the selectors. The right-handed batter is in form of his life as he had shown during the Duleep Trophy, Irani Trophy, and Ranji Trophy seasons. It looks like the talented batter needs to wait for some more time to get his place in the Indian squad.
1. Hanuma Vihari
One of the most shocking exclusions from the Indian squad was Hanuma Vihari. The right-handed batter is also in good touch recently after he scored 134 in the Duleep Trophy and 82 in the Irani Trophy. Vihari is a technically sound batter and his ability to play spin well could have been fruitful for team India, but he will not be joining the Indian squad for the Test matches against Bangladesh.
