BAN vs IND: 2nd ODI Preview – India aim for an equaliser

Bangladesh and India are all set to lock horns in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. It will be a must-win game for the Men in Blue as they are trailing by 0-1. Hosts Bangladesh would be aiming for another victory to clinch the series.

India faced a humiliating defeat in the first game as Bangladesh proved why they are the best side while playing at home conditions. Shakib Al Hasan’s and Ebadot Hossain’s heroics helped the hosts dish out India for a below-average total of 186 runs. While the former picked up a five-wicket haul, the latter ended with four wickets.

Indian bowlers did a tremendous job as they took the hosts down to 136/9 in 39.3 overs. But a handful of mistakes by the Indian fielders led to Bangladesh’s last-standing batters getting a bonus life. India failed to pick the tenth wicket. Mehidy Hasan Miraz capitalized on the opportunities and won the game for his side.

Pitch and conditions

The captain winning the toss might opt to bowl first as the surface at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium is slow, and proved to be beneficial for the bowlers in the first game. It will be difficult for the batters to get going and thus, the side batting first would be hoping to put up a defendable total.

Venue details: Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur

Here’s the probable playing XI for Bangladesh vs India clash:

Bangladesh:

Bangladesh are in good form even without the services of their key players Taskin Ahmed and Tamim Iqbal. They are unlikely to make any changes to their XI.

India:

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was released from the ODI squad ahead of the first game. And as a result, KL Rahul kept the gloves. Axar Patel was rested for the first game due to injury concerns and his availability is uncertain. Indian bowlers did very well in the previous game and thus, the team will be expected to continue the same combination.
