Babar Azam reacts to New Zealand abandoning the Pakistan tour
The first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand was called off without a single ball being bowled. And, news has also come in that the New Zealand side has called off their limited-overs series against Pakistan amidst security concerns.
In fact, both teams did not even leave their respective hotel rooms on the morning of the match. And, this has left Pakistan skipper and batting superstar Babar Azam disappointed. The 26-year-old took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the matter.
Azam tweeted that he is disappointed because of the postponement of the limited-overs series against the Kiwis, and stated that this series could have brought back a smile on the faces of millions of cricket fans in Pakistan. He concluded his tweet by stating that he has full trust in the security forces of Pakistan.

Pakistan have been wonderful hosts: NZC Chief Executive
New Zealand Cricket also issued a statement regarding the matter as well. The statement stated that there was an escalation in threat levels in Pakistan, and as a result, the Kiwis have decided to not go ahead with the tour.
“Following an escalation in the New Zealand Government threat levels for Pakistan, and advice from NZC security advisors on the ground, it has been decided the Blackcaps will not continue with the tour,” read a statement that was released by New Zealand Cricket.
Also, the Chief Executive of New Zealand Cricket, David White stated that Pakistan have been wonderful hosts and the decision to call off the series was taken keeping the safety of the players in mind.
“I understand this will be a blow for the PCB, who have been wonderful hosts, but player safety is paramount and we believe this is the only responsible option,” said White.
