Babar Azam motivates his teammates after clinical victory over India
Pakistan finally managed to break the jinx as they beat India by a thumping margin of 10 wickets in the ICC T20 World Cup first game. The victory was set up by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who managed to pick three wickets and put India on the back foot. Later in the run-chase Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan managed to hunt the target without breaking a sweat and enabled a 10-wicket win for the team.
Naturally, skipper Azam was thrilled with this victory but he also shared a message to his teammates to not get complacent and keep up the same intensity for the remainder of the games. Pakistan are considered an unpredictable team owing to their inconsistency. Azam was aware of this fact and wanted his players to display consistency right through the competition.
The Pakistani skipper also said not to get over-excited by this achievement and requested players to carry on with the momentum. “I request you all not to get over-excited as it might lead to our downfall in the next game. Because inconsistency has been an issue with our team in the past, we have to change that. I am hopeful that it will change soon and not be the case this time around. We can do that. Very well done today, boys,” said Azam to his teammates in a video shared by Pakistan Cricket.
Our main focus should be winning the T20 World Cup: Babar Azam
A video was also shared by Pakistan Cricket on their official Twitter account, wherein Azam was seen telling the players the focus should be on winning the Trophy. He also said we will celebrate today’s performance together and try to do well as a unit in the remaining games.

During the two minutes 47 seconds speech, the Pakistani skipper kept on stressing the importance of not being satisfied by just one win.
“The win today cannot be attributed to any one individual performance. We won as a team today. We should not deviate from this at all, even in future games. It is just a start now. Do enjoy the win, but don’t get over-excited. We have matches ahead, so we need to be prepared and focused. Today’s victory is in the past now, it was great, and we will all enjoy it together, but our main focus should be winning the World Cup. We will not relax till then, and we have to give our 100%.”
