Australia name full-strength 18-member Test squad for Pakistan tour

The Ashes

The Australian side will embark on a tour to Pakistan after more than two decades next month. This series will comprise of 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and a T20I match. And, the kangaroos have now announced their Test squad for the Pakistan tour.

Pacer Josh Hazlewood returned to the squad after injury, and the likes of Mitchell Swepson and Josh Inglis have also found a place in the squad. Also, it is to be noted that not a single Test player pulled out due to security reasons. The chief of the Australian cricket Association, Todd Greenberg stated that there is a little bit of anxiety in touring Pakistan, but opined that it is natural as the kangaroos will be visiting Pakistan after almost a quarter of a century.

“Clearly there is some anxiety about touring which I think is perfectly natural given an Australian team hasn’t toured Pakistan for almost 25 years,” said Todd Greenberg as quoted by Cricket Australia.

Full support needs to be given to the players who decide not to tour Pakistan: Todd Greenberg

Todd Greenberg also added that there might be a couple of players who might still not be comfortable touring Pakistan and concluded by stating that support needs to be provided to these players who decide not to travel to Pakistan.

“We may have one or two players who won’t be comfortable despite all of the advice and guidance that we provide. Along with Cricket Australia, we’ll need to respect those players and give them our full support if they decide not to make this tour,” concluded Greenberg.

The three-match Test series between the two sides will commence on 4th March 2022 in Rawalpindi. Karachi and Lahore will host the other 2 Test matches.
