AUS-W vs IND-W: Only Test Preview – India Women gear up for their maiden D-N Test
The multi-format series between Australia and India is all set to move to its second phase. The two teams will now meet in a historic day-night Test match. This will be the first time India Women will be playing a Test under lights. They might be short of the experience of what is to come ahead, but the ODI series, especially the win in the dead rubber, will lift the spirits of the visitors.
The Australian team, on the other hand, haven’t played a Test in quite some time, unlike India who had recently played one in England. Remember, this is still a four-day Test and will see 98 overs being bowled in a day’s play. After witnessing a wonderful game of cricket (2nd ODI) under lights in Mackay, one can totally imagine how scenic this game could be. Most importantly, a pink ball, lights on and white clothing is something quite rare in women’s cricket and is a moment to cherish for the fans.

Team News:
Australia: Just ahead of the Test match, Australia faced a huge blow with Rachel Haynes being ruled out due to an injury. Alyssa Healy has been named as the vice-captain to Meg Lanning for this one-off Test and the following T20I series. Elysse Perry was seen practising her bowling and could be seen with the ball, if her form and fitness is right up. Her fitness will play a key role in deciding who comes into the XI for Haynes. Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Redmayne are two players who will be fighting for one spot, while we could see one between Darcie Brown and Stella Campbell make their Test debut.
India: Much like the Aussies, India too lost their vice-captain for this match due to an injury. Harmanpreet Kaur’s place is likely to see two candidates fighting for a spot. Punam Raut is the experienced one, while left-handed batter, Yastika Bhatia, is someone who impressed during the ODI series. Either of them will get a spot in the middle order. Richa Ghosh might go back to the benches with Taniya Bhatia taking the gloves. There is one more spot for which we might see Shikha Pandey and Pooja Vastrakar fight. Meghna Singh is expected to make her debut if India decide only one between Pandey and Vastrakar.
