AUS vs IND: Team India takes part in ‘fun drill’ ahead of Day-Night Test

India

India have experienced a roller-coaster ride in their tour of Australia until now. Virat Kohli and Co started with a 1-2 defeat in the ODIs after Steve Smith’s twin centuries at the Sydney Cricket Ground pinned them. But in the T20Is, the Men in Blue made amends, winning the series by 2-1. Debutant T Natarajan and Hardik Pandya put forth their A-game and guided India through to the incredible victory.

Now, the Indian Test team is all set to take part in the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which gets underway on Thursday, December 17 at the Adelaide Oval. Back in 2018-19, India won their maiden Test series on Australian soil and they would be looking to replicate something similar even this time around. India have already played a couple of warm-up matches, one of which was a Day-Night affair.

Team India players gearing up

With not much time left for the first Test, the visitors’ players are busy warming up, but taking care of the fun-element as well. The Board of Control for Cricket in India uploaded a clip where the Team India players can be seen, engaging in some fun-drill before the rigorous net sessions.

India will be without the services of Virat Kohli after the first Test as the skipper would be back in India on paternity leave to be with his wife Anushka Sharma. However, instead of looking too far ahead, Ajinkya Rahane, India’s Test vice-captain, prefers, ‘staying in the moment’ and wants to give his best efforts in the pink-ball Test.

“I believe in staying in the moment. Right now, Virat is our captain … it’s about me giving my best in this Test. and helping Virat out. After that, we’ll discuss our plan,” Rahane was quoted as saying in a virtual pre-match press conference on Tuesday, December 15.

Prior to the Tests, India have a few reasons to worry as Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of all the four matches even as Rohit Sharma won’t be a part of the series at least for the first two Tests.
