It has come to light that Bumrah’s scan reports identified a strain and the Indian team management is not keen to further risk and aggravate it. India are set to play England in a four-match Test series in February, which will be their final series in the World Test Championship.
With Bumrah ruled out, India are left with two options for their third seamer in the Brisbane Test. One of Shardul Thakur and T Natarajan shall get an opportunity. While Thakur has played in one Test match for India, Natarajan will be making his debut if selected.
In addition, India will also be missing Ravindra Jadeja and Hanuma Vihari from the Sydney Test. R Ashwin is also suffering back issues while Mayank Agarwal is also reported to be hurt during the net practice. The four-match Test series currently stand level with one victory each for both the sides.
