AUS vs IND: Five Indian cricketers Australia should be wary of
Whenever India play against Australia, it is an interesting match to watch as the rivalry between the two teams that have come up in the last few years has been a delight to watch for the cricket fans. Both teams have some of the best players in the business playing for them and it would be interesting to see how each team plans to counter the best players of the opponent team.
Here’s a look at the 5 names from the Indian team for whom the best of Aussie brains will have to get on the drawing board and draw out special plans for them.
5. Shikhar Dhawan

The aggressive left-handed opener looked to be in great touch with the bat throughout the Indian Premier League. His efforts with the bat up top played a major role in his team’s progression into the finals of the tournament. He ended the tournament with 618 runs in 17 matches, placed at the second position in the run-scorers list. Shikhar Dhawan has the ability to perform well with the bat in overseas conditions and his form with the bat, would make him a force to reckon with for the Australian bowlers.
4. KL Rahul
Shikhar Dhawan’s opening partner, Rahul will also pose a big threat to the Australian bowlers in this tour. They would have to be wary of his presence on the field. Rahul was in top form with the bat in the Indian Premier League this season and tormented the bowlers while batting. He was the highest run-scorer of the tournament with as many as 670 runs to his name at an average of 55.83 and a strike-rate of 129.34. KL Rahul will want to carry his IPL form to Australia and his ability to adapt to different formats would enable him to counter the Australian bowlers with relative ease.
3. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, unarguably one of the best batsmen in world cricket across formats at the moment, will want to show the world what he is capable of doing with the bat, after having a relatively dull season with the bat in this Indian Premier League. Virat Kohli is expected to miss out on a major part of the Test series, so he will want to give his best in the limited-overs series. There is no doubt that Virat is extremely skilled with the bat in hand, and with him having already won matches on the last tour would want to better his record Down Under.
2. Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami has established himself in the Indian team in the last couple of years and will be having the onus of being one of the leaders of the bowling attack on this tour. He fared well in the Indian Premier League, as he took 20 wickets in just 14 matches. Shami has been hungry for wickets and has translated his will into performances. His performances on foreign soil have been great in the past few years and he will want to never give the Australian batsmen a moment to sit back and relax whenever he is bowling.
1. Yuzvendra Chahal
One of the most capable leg-spinners in world cricket at the moment, when it comes to white-ball cricket, Yuzvendra Chahal, draws his power while bowling not from the pitch, but effectively reading his opponent’s mind. Chahal in the Indian Premier League was the highest wicket-taker for his team and also ended up being the most successful spinner in the tournament, surpassing the likes of Rashid Khan and others. In his previous tour to Australia, he did fairly well with the ball overall and will want to better his numbers in the country as he plays for the national team on the coming tour.
