Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic also grappled the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The gala T20 tournament was suspended midway after multiple players and staff members contracted the virus despite the bio-bubble in place. Hence, on May 4, BCCI postponed the remaining season indefinitely.
Only 29 of the 60 scheduled games took place till the season suspension, and hence, BCCI now has a job in hand. The board needs to find a window in the jam-packed cricket calendar to conduct the remaining season. As per reports, BCCI is currently planning to hold the remaining matches in England in September.
