Ashes 2021-22: 4th Test Preview – Battered England seek silver lining
A battered England will take on a confident Australia in the fourth Ashes Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Nothing has gone right for the Joe Root led-side in the Ashes series so far.
In all three matches, England have been battered and are already 0-3 down, with two Test matches still left to be played. In the third Test at Melbourne, the visitors were bowled out for a paltry total of just 68 in the second innings, as the kangaroos thrashed them by an innings and 14 runs.
Australia will be upbeat coming into the 4th Ashes Test. Their batting line-up has fired, their bowling attack has bamboozled the England side, and the Pat Cummins led side is firing on all cylinders.
Even though England have lost the series, they will still look to compete and post a win, as there are WTC points up for grabs. On the other hand, the Aussies will look to inflict more pain on their opponents and take a 4-0 lead in the Ashes series.
So, will a New Year bring about new fortunes for the England side?
