Anushka Sharma shares first glimpse of Jhulan Goswami’s biopic
Anushka Sharma, on Monday (August 29) shared a glimpse of her look from ‘Chakda Express’, the biopic on Jhulan Goswami where she is portraying the legendary pacer. In the BTS video, it is seen how filmmaker Prosit Roy portrays the legendary cricketer’s path to the World Cup final while capturing her unbridled energy.
The Indian fast bowler’s ascent up the ranks despite obstacles in order to realize her ambition to play cricket for her nation served as the inspiration for the sports drama, which will be released on Netflix. Goswami, aged 39, made her international debut at a very young age of 19 years, and since then has gone on to break barriers and boundaries.
Sharing the video clip on her official Instagram handle, Anushka Sharma wrote: “Here’s a glimpse into the Chakda ‘Xpress journey with our earnest director @prositroy.”
In just five hours of the video clip being posted, it has received more than eight lakh views and over two lakh likes, with people commenting on it in thousands. Anushka’s husband Virat Kohli– India’s former captain and the ace batter reacted to the video and dropped in the heart emojis in the comments section. Jhulan Goswami also commented similarly to Kohli.
Back in January, when Anushka had announced the film by sharing the teaser, she had written: “It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket.”
Goswami set to bid farewell to international cricket
Jhulan Goswami is set to bid adieu to international cricket after serving the Indian national team for over two decades. After missing out on the Women’s Challenger Trophy this year, Goswami headed to the NCA in Bengaluru to recover from her injury which she had sustained during India’s final league stage game against South Africa at the Women’s World Cup 2022.
She has been named in India’s ODI squad that will be touring England for a three-match series, which will commence after the conclusion of the three-match T20I series. The ODI games will be played on September 18, 21, and 24, and the final game of the series, which is scheduled at the iconic Lord’s will be Goswami’s final international game. Notably, she’s the leading wicket taker in women’s internationals with 352 scalps under her belt across all three formats.
