Andre Russell lavishes praise on Tanveer Sangha for his BBL heroics
Tanveer Sangha produced a superb performance with the ball for the Sydney Thunder side in their clash against the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL) tournament. The right arm leg spinner scalped 2 wickets and also leaked only 20 runs in the 4 overs that he bowled.
And now, Andre Russell of the Melbourne Stars side has lavished praises on Sangha. There was a moment in the match when Russell chopped the ball onto the stumps off the bowling of Sangha, but the bails did not fall.
Russell said that the ball hit the stumps quite hard, and added that he was happy to be still out in the middle. Russell also labelled Sangha as a spinner who has a big heart, and added that he likes spinners who are not afraid to bowl to big hitters like him.
“The ball hit the stump like hard, happy to still be batting and have a laugh about it. I commended him and I said, ‘Listen, you have a big heart and I like spinners that are not afraid to bowl to big hitters’,” said Russell after the conclusion of the match.
Tanveer Sangha will go a long way: Andre Russell
Andre Russell further said that Sangha mixed up the pace well, and was bowling into his body. Adding that Sangha has a bright future, Russell concluded by stating that the young 20-year-old Sangha still has a long way to go in his cricketing career.
“He was doing really, really well, (bowling) into my body and mixing up his pace as well. I observed that about him, he just has a bright future. He’s not afraid to bowl in the power surge over to me… he did well, so hats off to him. He has a long way to go and if he can be doing this now, he’s just (got) improvement to come,” concluded Andre Russell.
Andre Russell scored a blazing 22-ball 43* to help the Melbourne Stars wallop the Sydney Thunder side by 6 wickets in the encounter between the two sides.
