Anand Mahindra announces THAR SUV as gift for Team India debutants on Australia tour
Team India created history down under beating Australia in the four-match Test series by a margin of 2-1. This was their second consecutive series win in Australia but what made the recent victory special was that almost eight of the first-choice India players were either unavailable or injured. The youngsters like Washington Sundar and Rishabh Pant among others stepped up when needed to script history.
After the 36 all-out in Adelaide Test and with Virat Kohli returning home, not many thought India would even compete. More injuries to players like Mohammed Shami only added to the issues the visitors faced and with every passing Test, the list kept growing. And despite the win in Melbourne and a heroic draw in Sydney, Australia were deemed the favourites to win the series thanks to their proud record at The Gabba, their fortress.
India had to field their net bowlers T Natarajan, Sundar, and Shardul Thakur alongside two Tests old Mohammed Siraj in Brisbane. And the young and inexperienced team ended up breaching the fortress on January 19, the historic day in Indian cricket. The whole world took notice of this exceptional performance and even the BCCI announced the reward of Rs 5 crore to the whole team.
All the players got a hero’s welcome back home as well and the rewards continue to come their way. The Chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra has now announced gifts for the debutants Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, T Natarajan, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini, and Mohammed Siraj for their inspiring performances. Notably, Thakur had made his debut before but it had lasted only 10 balls as he got injured.
But when he got his second chance in Brisbane, the Mumbai cricketer made sure he made it a memorable one for himself scoring a total of 69 runs with the bat and also picked seven wickets.
Get their THARS on priority, says Anand Mahindra
Anand Mahindra took to his official Twitter handle to announce his kind gesture towards the cricketers. He also stated that the gift is to inspire the youngsters of the country to believe in themselves and not take shortcuts. Moreover, he gifted the Thar to six cricketers from his personal account.
