Ajinkya Rahane denies cutting a cake with Kangaroo on top

Until a few days back, Ajinkya Rahane was a solid middle-order batsman who held the key to India’s success in overseas conditions. All of us were aware that he was a strong-headed individual with an ability to lead the team when required. However, in the past one month, the Mumbai player has shown incredible leadership qualities and helped his side to clinch a historic series win.

On Thursday, when he would arrive home, it was expected that he would be getting a grand welcome from his neighbourhood. As the hero set foot in Mumbai, his entire neighbourhood gathered around to congratulate him and celebrate with him. During the welcome, his neighbours had organised for a cake to welcome him.

His neighbours had arranged for a cake for him with an edible Kangaroo shaped thing on top of it. However, as he was about to cut the cake, he noticed the Kangaroo and denied cutting the cake. The whole incident was telecasted on a Marathi news channel, TV9 Marathi. Having noticed this, a Twitter user put a tweet where he talked about Rahane’s gesture and also added the link of the local news channel covering it. In the video, the stand-in captain can be seen denying to cut the cake.

Kangaroos are the national animal of Australia. The Australian cricket team is often referred to as the Kangaroos. There was an obvious reason why that was added to the cake. It would have been a disrespectful thing had Rahane decided to cut the cake.

Ajinkya Rahane’s undefeated as captain in Tests

India won the historic Test series against Australia after winning the fourth and final Test at the Gabba in Brisbane earlier this week. A collaborative performance ensured India a fantastic win which would be remembered for the ages. The Mumbai batsman now has an incredible record as a captain.

He has captained India five times in Test cricket, winning four of those Test matches while one ended in a draw in Sydney earlier this year. In addition to that, Rahane has also led India to three wins in ODIs, with a 100% win percentage. His only loss as a captain had come in one T20I in Zimbabwe back in 2015.
