Aaron Finch surprises Babar Azam with birthday cake during presser

The apex cricket body, the International Cricket Council (ICC) organised a Captains’ Day media call on Saturday, October 15, where all the skippers were made available to speak to the media. The Plaza Ballroom in Melbourne was all decked up as all the 16 captains participating in the T20 World Cup rose to the occasion to speak with the media.

Interestingly, it was Pakistan skipper Babar Azam who celebrated his 28th birthday on the all-important day along with the other captains. Australian skipper Aaron Finch surprised the Pakistani player with a cake knowing it was the latter’s birthday.

Babar, who sat alongside Scotland’s Richie Berrington, was left surprised with the sweet gesture made by host Aaron Finch and the other captains.

However, this was not the only cake the birthday boy cut at the Ballroom on Saturday. Babar also cut a two-tier, green-coloured cake outside the press room as he was surrounded by all other captains. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared a video of the skipper cutting the cake in the presence of the other captains.

Babar Azam is one of the finest batters in world cricket at the moment, and he would hope to put on a great show in the forthcoming T20 World Cup. Pakistan will cross swords with Rohit Sharma-led India on October 23 as the serious business is set to commence in less than a week.

The side will look to better their record as they crashed out of the previous edition to Australia in the semi-finals, who eventually went onto lift the prestigious title. Team Pakistan have built a well-rounded side and are riding high as they have just come off from a series win in the tri-series against New Zealand and Bangladesh.
