A player like Dhoni has got such a big presence in the game: Sam Curran

MS Dhoni

English all-rounder Sam Curran has turned out to be Chennai Super Kings’ vital part in the Indian Premier League since last year. He has come to teams’ rescue while plying his trade in various capacities. Apart from shining with the ball, he has single-handedly shouldered the batting job for the yellow army on more than one occasion. Being part of CSK, he has been working in close quarters with legendary skipper MS Dhoni too, and recently opened up on him.

Curran added that Dhoni has got a big presence in the game and one would want to learn much from him. Though the last year’s IPL wasn’t great for CSK, Curran feels he got to learn a lot. He wishes to play with the yellow army in the coming years too and feels he can contribute the best from his side.

A player like Dhoni, he’s got such a big presence in the game. He’s achieved so many amazing things. Naturally, you get confidence from that. There’s nothing better for me as a younger player to get put in those scenarios. It wasn’t the best season for the team but you learn so much and obviously, this season when the IPL was going ahead [in India], we were second on the table. It’s a great franchise and hopefully, I can contribute more in the coming years,” said Curran as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

CSK looked quite strong in the first leg of IPL 2021 under MS Dhoni

It has to be noted that though CSK had a terrible outing in the 2020 season of the IPL, they were going all good in the first phase of the IPL 2021 which was up in India. Chennai was ranked 2nd on the points table and looked quite a determined side to replicate their success. The yellow army of MS Dhoni has won the title thrice and played all the playoffs of IPL in the years they were part of the league.

2020 was the first edition where they failed to grab a playoffs seat. However, it will be a thing to see how they will perform in the UAE leg of IPL 2021 under the guidance of MS Dhoni.
