Rishabh Pant to play in IPL 2024 confirms Sourav Ganguly
India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has been showing remarkable progress in the past few months following his horrific car crash on December 30, 2022. The 26-year-old recently joined Delhi Capitals training camp in Kolkata but will not be training with his teammates during their early preparations for the next season.
Recently, Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly gave a major update on Pant’s fitness and stated that he’s in good shape. Ganguly further gave the most-awaited news for Pant’s fans and revealed that the cricketer will be playing in the next season of the IPL.
“Rishabh Pant is in good shape. He will play from next season, he will not practice now. He is here till 11th November. We had a discussion about the team with Pant as he is the captain of the team, considering the upcoming auctions,” Sourav Ganguly told India Today in Kolkata,
Notably, Pant didn’t look uncomfortable at all while walking in the training camp in Kolkata. He was also not seen wearing any knee straps as he’s been progressing remarkably towards attaining full fitness. According to India Today, the Delhi-born cricketer is expected to return to competitive cricket early next year.
Pant likely to make international return in England Test series
Furthermore, he’s also expected to make a comeback to international cricket during home Test series against England starting from January 2024. Pant was recently spotted at Lord Balaji Temple in Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh along with India all-rounder Axar Patel.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are one of the few teams who have begun their training camp ahead of the next IPL season which is around five months away. Some of the Delhi Capitals players who are available for the camp began training at the Jadavpur University second Campus Cricket Association of Bengal ground in Saltlake, Kolkata. Pant arrived in Kolkata on Thursday and he will be in the city until November 11.
DC had a miserable season in 2023 as they finished on the second-last (ninth) spot on the points table with five wins from 14 matches having ten points to their name. They will be desperate for a change of fortunes in the upcoming season with the return of their regular captain in Pant.
